1. What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, Reflect wipes the following — on this device, in our servers, and in cloud storage:
- All your moments, mood data, hashtags, stickers, and inline photos and voice memos.
- All goals, achievements, and locally-stored AI insights.
- Your recovery code, diary lock, and the encryption key in the secure keychain.
- Your encrypted cloud backup and every backup entry.
- Your sync data across all devices.
- Your Together connection, the shared journal entries between you and your buddy, and the cheers history.
- Your Together profile and avatar.
- Your subscription record, trial state, and rate-limit counters.
- Your notification tokens and the recovery-email lookup row (if you set one).
- Your photos, voice memos, and stickers in cloud storage.
- Your anonymous authentication account.
2. How to Delete in the App
- Open Reflect and go to Settings.
- Tap Account, then Delete Account.
- Read the warning and tap Continue.
- Type DELETE in capital letters and tap Delete Forever.
- The app runs the deletion and signs you out as a fresh user.
3. Request Deletion via Email
If you can't open the app, or you'd rather we run the cleanup for you, email [email protected] from the address you used for backup recovery (or include enough detail for us to identify your account).
We'll honor the request within 30 days and reply to confirm once your data has been permanently deleted.
4. What Happens After Deletion
- The deletion is irreversible. Once it finishes, no one — including us — can restore your data.
- Your anonymous account is removed; any recovery code you held is permanently invalidated.
- Your cloud backup is deleted immediately.
- The app signs you out and reloads. You're free to reinstall and use Reflect as a brand-new user at any time.
5. What Is NOT Deleted
To be honest with you: a few things sit outside the deletion by design. They contain no journal content and no identifying account data, but you should know they exist.
- Your App Store or Google Play subscription. Apple and Google manage subscription billing on their own servers — we can't cancel it for you. See section 6.
- Apple / Google billing receipts. The store you subscribed through retains its own purchase records under its own privacy policy. We don't control them.
- Restore-event audit log. When a cloud backup is restored on a new device, we keep a short-lived security log so we can investigate "this wasn't me" reports. The log is not readable by the app and is auto-deleted after a short retention window.
- Anonymous analytics already sent. Aggregate metrics like "an entry was created" — emitted before deletion, with no account ID attached — remain in our analytics provider's records. They can't be tied back to you.
6. Cancel Your Subscription Separately
Deleting your Reflect account does not cancel your App Store or Google Play subscription. You must cancel through the store directly, otherwise billing continues.
